Suzuki GS-150 R: Gooood bye to Pulsar,TVS Apache and to all 125/135 CC’s :)

April 20, 2009

The most practical bike both in performance as well the value for the money

Its been a pretty long to be on WordPress to blog my activities, but finds no time to do it. But still I have an very interesting thing to blog. It is all about my new bike experience with Suzuki GS 150 R.

I bought this bike 2 months before when i was searching for a bike to buy so badly. This was the new release and I will be roughly around 20-25th customer to get this. When i went to suzuki’s show room to have a test ride on it, i really got impressed with the bike model. A very normal look, with strong muscular tank, 6 speed gears, cushion seating capacity, wonderful shocks action and finally with 9 amp battery. Also i had a test ride on it, covering the speed of 75 kmph in the sixth gear with in 1 km. Seating posture is so cool , so no one will get a back pain on the drive. Its XTP [Extra Torque Power] really pulls the bike in the high gear with the low speed. Impressed with all these things, booked one and within a week got the delivery.

After 250 Kms of short drive in 2 days, had a short trip to Chengi Hills 140 kms from chennai. The tested bike top speed on NH 45 is 109/110 singles and 107/108 doubles and at this speed, and this bike is flying like a bitch. As the engine sound is too smooth compared to any other Indian Bikes I heard only the air piercing sound. The aero dynamisim really matters and sorry pulsar could’nt match the competition with this bike. The essense of the 6th gear felt that day. At many points when the windy conditions are high, pulsar could’nt pick up the speed and its speed it gradually reduced as it is very poor @ its aero dynamics. Still many bikers are saying that this bike has the ability to go @ 115-118 Kmph, not sure about this, need a very good road to test this.

Also I had a very good experience driving this bike completely on a OFF-Road. I purposefully did to check the shocks action and driving comfort. For all these cases, it really surprised me that this bike goes @ 40kmph in 3rd gear very smoothly when all other bikes can only reach minimum of 15kmph in the 2nd gear. 40% seat action and the remaining 60% is the shocks action makes this bike more dependable and most lovable. With this bike really had 3 short drives around 100 kms away chennai and the age of this bike is now 2 months old with 3000 kms on its account.

Every day I love this bike more than anything.

Still some testing is under progress: Mileage testing, 0-60, Comparing with FZ-16.

Stay tuned for more updates and sorry pulsar lovers. Pulsar is a damn bullshit bike.

Bajaj Xcd 125, Junior Leader

November 1, 2007

Pulsar at all its released models made a revolution in the market. In the mean time, he tried to capture the 100cc market by so many factors which was not really went well. Bikes like, caliber 115, wind, ct100,platinum went out of the market in the speed they came in. After few failures, bajaj had an eye on 125cc vehicle and released Bajaj Discover 125cc which was not as hit as pulsar, but a very moderate hit. He then became the undisputed leader in 125cc 150cc, 180cc market in India. With some of the drawbacks in discover, bajaj got advanced to make another revolution by making a bike which is so called to “JUNIOR PULSAR” called XCD 125cc. This is really gonna beat each and every bike in its own style.

The XCD looks quite eye-catching, especially as an upgrade from the 100-110cc bikes we’re used to. The XCD has familiar lines of the present line up of Bajaj Bikes. The Headlamp, Side-Panels, Tail Lamps reminds you of the bigger Pulsars and the Discover.

Looks & Build Quality: The build quality is very good and looks and feels like a well put together motorcycle. The XCD also boasts of a “Self Starter” which according to be is a delightful feature to have. The XCD also features a “Digital Speedometer” which I thought looks plain and could have been better turned out. The switches are among the best in its segment and are pretty comprehensive. Push to cancel turn indicator switch is present along with the high beam flasher and the “Ride Control” switch.

A few people might complain that the XCD doesn’t look different from the other Bajaj models. Inspite of its small packaging, the XCD manages to looks sharp and Handsome.

Performance: On slotting the XCD into the first gear, the gearbox felt a bit notchy. But nevertheless it felt way better than the Pulsar gearboxes. The bike pulled cleanly through the gears and is comfortable to potter around in the top gear. The engine was relatively smooth and devoid of vibrations but it in terms of smoothness Bajaj engine can still improve.

Following are the performance figures of XCD:

0-60km/h – 8s
0-80km/h – 17s
Top speed – 93km/h
City Fuel economy: 64kmpl
Highway Fuel economy: 82kmpl

Ride Quality & Handling: The ride quality of XCD is very good and leagues ahead than any current 100 cc bike in the Indian market. The XCD feels like a bigger bike on the move. The XCD rewards you with a very good ride quality. It has almost become the norm about Bajaj having the best ride quality among Indian bikes. The Pulsars already have the best ride quality in the country today followed by the Discover 135 and now the XCD.

Fuel Economy: The initial fuel efficiency of XCD is around 70 plus Km per litre in real city conditions which puts the XCD among the most fuel efficient motorcycles in India along with the Fuel Injected “Glamour Fi”.

Overall, I’m very impressed with the XCD as long as I can remember that it’s supposed to compete with the Splendor/Platina. Here is XCD 125’s comparison with other 125cc bikes in India. The XCD has everything covered from the ride quality, handling, power/pickup which definitely is was better than any 100 cc bike in India today. Probably the fuel efficiency of the XCD is also going to be very good.

Different phases of xcd how it looks,

Faster N Faster, Sexy appeal, What else You can expect, Suzuki’s Hayabusa 2k8! Can “Pulsar” beat this out really.

September 7, 2007

Well year after year, there is a steady and mass improvement in both the design and its performance which surely outclass every other bikes in the market. Pretty much confused of what i am talkin abt is it :( , yes I am talking about one of the most super bikes in the world. It’s

SUZUKI HAYABUSA

Bikes has been already designed with three metallic colors suchas Black [by default], blue [second default] and orange[an appealing one.]

2008 Suzuki Hayabusa to use 180bhp, 1350cc inline-four from the B-King!

desing1.jpg
It’s no secret that the Suzuki B-King is inching closing to becoming a production reality – we expect a formal announcement from Suzuki within the next two months, and the bike should be in showrooms by the end of this year.

But the bigger news is the fact that the 2008 Hayabusa will actually use the B-King’s engine. Earlier speculation that the next-generation Hayabusa might use an 1100cc, inline six-cylinder engine (taken from the Stratosphere concept…) has been proved wrong. The 2008 Hayabusa will use the B-King’s 1350cc inline-four, which is likely to pack more than 180 horsepower!

Other news on the new Hayabusa is that it’ll have a totally redesigned chassis, fresh styling (say goodbye to the current machine’s bulbous lines…), and radial brakes with optional ABS. Also, like with the 2007 GSX-R1000, the 2008 Hayabusa is likely to get rider-selectable fuel-injection mapping, which will reduce power in tricky road/weather conditions.

Ooh, ooh, ooh, wow stunning design, see the model chart of this king on road.

Still more to come on many ….

Already my dream of getting porsche day by day gets wider, after looking at hayabusa’s latest model pbly , i could try this:-) , but only at my dream.

Pulsar,Discover: Bajaj has no explanation for the extra pieces in the handle bar.

August 18, 2007

Have you ever watched the handle bar of pulsar , discover which contains an extra piece at both the ends. I have no idea why it is there, and even BAJAJ has no good answer for that. Does anyone among you know the reason why it is there.  If yes please share your valuable comments.

PS: I have enquired about this at various show rooms of bajaj, still not got the answer. The only answer i got was it weighs totally around 125-150 gms totally on both sides. Does that act as a balancing material.  :)

Bajaj,Pulsar,220cc,Karizma

June 26, 2007

Bajaj has released its newer version of pulsar 220cc. Highly extremed torque power, with 20bhp. All more with new style and classy look

bajaj-pulsar-dts-fi-220-cc-motorcycle.jpg

Bajaj’s Pulsar DTS-Fi 220cc motorcycle priced at around Rs 85,000.

dts-fi-image.jpg

The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is expected to touch a top speed of 135kph. That is an excellent top speed in Indian conditions, probably matched only by the Kinetic Aquila – which anyway is not available in India now.

pulsar-dts-fi.jpg

What’s hot with 220cc pulsar?

The most important feature of all is the fuel injection mechanism, which is responsible for the quick throttle and the linear power curve. The Bajaj Pulsar DTS-Fi is the first Indian motorcycle with an oil cooled engine. Together, they make for a potent combination. The Hero Honda Karizma as well as the Pulsar DTS-Fi weigh 150 kgs, and the extra 3 bhp of the DTS-Fi as well as the power delivery characteristics make this an easy Karizma-beater.

PS: Enjoy the passion of riding in pulsar 220cc.
