Interesting GMail Error…. Shocked but not suprised

November 10, 2008

GMail claims to be still in BETA, so that it can be tested by the user and to get to know the feedback from them. But when I was using GMail, a basic stupidity was done by GMail team. The mistake was fetching the maximum recordset values in a singlepage. GMail by default let us to view 50 recordset in a page whereas if a page is having less than that, “How GMAIL Hanldes it ???. Look at the screenshot below of how GMail is displaying the wrong data.

interestinggmailerr

Does GMail really handles these basic operations well or its yet another sloppy stuff. Does GMail JavaScript fails to handle the pagination well???? Well who answers this??

PS: This cannot be reproduced every time, while on continuous testing you will find something like this and even something more than this. May be who knows sometimes, our password can be even printed somewhere. Checkout for more updates and keep updating this thread.

Google Gears [Enabling Your Offline Web Applications]

June 25, 2007

I was awaiting for this tool for so many days and atlast Google developers had released this product. Homepage of the google gears defines gear..

…an open source browser extension that enables web applications to provide offline functionality using following JavaScript APIs:

- Store and serve application resources locally
- Store data locally in a fully-searchable relational database
- Run asynchronous Javascript to improve application responsiveness

Also google claims that this kind of technology will be most valuable in the web services world. This can be installed in couple of operating system though google warns. With this release Google’s Inc enters Microsoft competetion territory very clearly. Google Gears is a free & open source product. Already, according to Google’s press release, other big industry players are in the boat, including Adobe (senior vice president Kevin Lynch: “[t]he Gears API will also be available in Apollo, which enables web applications to run on the desktop”), Mozilla (chief technology office Brendan Eich: “a significant step forward for web applications”) and Opera (chief technology officer Håkon Wium Lie: “we’re excited to work with Google to extend the reach and power of Web applications”). Google says their “long-term hope is that Google Gears can help the industry as a whole move toward a single standard for offline capabilities that all developers can use.”

Moreover you can have the techcrunch’s note on the mentioned url http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/05/30/google-gears-lets-developers-take-apps-offline/
